Holidays so Far

While we are not getting the extreme weather being highlighted in the news for many of the northern states in the US,it has been rather interesting here. After days of almost constant rainfall many pond sized puddles have been created challenging traffic and runners. After a few days of peering out the window and wind driven rain and thinking,” no way am I going running in that!” I was tricked by what appeared to be a calm dry morning. It wasn’t too bad to start with, but the further I got away from the B&B, the more my confidence in that assessment deteriorated. The rainfall did not return, and the wind was a mere breeze,  but the path got muddier and navigating the perimeter of increasingly larger and deeper mud puddles was challenging. Despite my fancy ballet steps around the perimeters or my long detours, I ended with squishy soles and blackened socks and toes. Still, it was a fun run. Is it almost Winter?

 “Is it almost winter?”,was the statement uttered mostly at our last Park Run. The week before it was chilly and rainy so much so that I broke away from the rest of the early setup volunteers because I had a bad case of the shivers. I took a few laps around the course just to warm up. This week we had sun and very little wind. The three days before however, we were treated to gusts into the 40’s and off and on torrential rain. I did manage to time an early run for a break in all that fun stuff to do a nice run of a bit more than nine miles. That is one thing that I love about this place, there are so many good places to run. As for the park runs, we really do like the group of people who organize things and the participants are there to enjoy the event while working on their personal goals.
