Fasching Fun and Blowy but not Snowy

Winter is not really winter to us. No Snow just Blown Rain!

I'm not sure if last winter was as impressive as this one has been. The locals say it has been wetter, windier and colder.  Since it seems to be unanimous and we have had more named storms than ever in recorded statistics, (the latest one started with the letter J). So there is sufficient evidence to erase any doubt that this is the case.  As a result, Susi and I have had fewer outside adventures. That is not to say that we have not had any but certainly there have been fewer outdoor treks.

Here is an example of the Blowy! This sycamore is about 40 feet shorter!

The wet and windy weather hasn't changed in the three months since I took this photo. Good thing Susi purchased a shoe dryer! It has been used several times for wet boots and running shoes.
This is what a stately Sycamore should look like.

Susi and I used the top portion as a bench to eat our snack.

The trip to Germany in February was highlighted by the Fasching parade in our old home town of Neuhausen Enz. We lived there longer than anywhere else either of us has lived!

It was especially memorable because we had a chance to visit with our friends and former landlords, Claus and Petra. They are always involved with the Fasching Parade and this year their granddaughter was marching in the group above. When we left Neuhausen, they had one grandchild. Now they have 7 and the newest one was a mere 3 months old. Susi and I were were invited into their home to participate in the pre-party for the parade. It was so great to see them  all.  Everyone was there except one of their sons. Bennie was working and was unable to come. Too bad as he and Violet were pretty close friends. At one point, they ran a cable out of our basement window to his so they could have their onw
The prince and princess were on the last float. After the parade the everyone was invited to attend the festivities at the community sports hall for more fun. Unfortunately, we were expected somewhere else and were unable to attend.

I'mm not sure how this Commerant snuck in here.
He is usually showing off when I do my runs around Loch Leven.

Okay this demon has something on it's mind!

Cough, cough! Now that wasn't very nice!
Pretty proud of yourself! Aren't you!
Susi got a prize. They must have known we're vegan!

There were beautiful days too! we took advantage
of them whenever possible

Most of the time our walks end in a visit to a pub.

Wait a minute! Is she stalking us!

Warm dry socks were especially important on our hikes!

There was plenty of rain, which made lots of rainbows!

That's all for now. Time for a hot drink!
